So I see all of these ebooks being sold and was wondering how all of the payment and delivery processing works.

I see that most people have their specs for their ebook and at the bottom the "pay via paypal now" button.

If I wanted to sell an ebook, how would I be able to let users pay for the ebook and instantly either:

    1. Receive an email with the download link
    2. Be directed to a page where the could download the ebook

I do not want to have to manually distribute it.

    Thanks!

There are many ways to do this:
    1. Create a download page on your website and submit this page to Paypal when configuring your product details. When a customer makes a payment, Paypal will redirect them to your download page so you won't have to do it manually.
    2. You could also integrate 1shoppingcart with your website for secure payments and downloads. Check your Cpanel to know which shopping carts are included with your hosting account.
    3. You could also use a third party payment processor which would both accept payments for you and deliver the product automatically upon payment. Some include Clickbank, E-junkie, Ebookbay, UploadnSell, Payloadz, RAP Bank and Digiresults to name a few.
    All the best.

PayPal also has a postback option. That means you can make a script that emails your user a link or file as soon as payment is made.
