    Hello ALL

I am newbie here and was hoping someone can help me. This is a little long winded so I hope you can bare with me....

I have been in business for a few years now and have a shop up until about 2 yrs ago I did the majority of my selling there but realised that the internet was a good way to reach customers.

Initially I sold my products on Ebay and everything was great, I was making good money and it was relatively easy. Then things on Ebay changed more competition, higher fees, more rules now it has gotten to the point where we were making a loss when all things are considered.

So I decided to have an E-commerce site built and take control myself and keep more of my profits which I had done shortly before Xmas (which is usually our busiest time) so I bought in extra stock and thought I would sell tonnes through my site but it never happeded.....

To be honest I was naive and maybe even stupid to think it would work that easily I didn't realise there were quite a few important factors in making an E-commerce site successful. II have found someone to help me with SEO but they have told me that this will take at least 6 months to see good results and they have sugessted in the mean time I try to use adwords and I tried to use it but it seemed that I was literally throwing money down the drain.....

My ROI was shockingly poor so I have done a little further research and now understand that adwords is quite complex and what I am basically asking are there any experts here who can help me understand the basics such as what I should expect to invest and what my return will be and where and who I should approach to help me??

I dont have the time to learn everything myself but as with most things want to understand the basics, the problem I'm finding is there are so many companies out there offering help I have no idea who I should approach and what to believe?

    Any advice?

    Thanks

Read Perry Marshall's Definitive Guide it really works. There are allot of people who claim to to know adwords and some do. I was in the same boat you are a few years ago until I took his five day email course (see sig) and it changed my business forever. Good Luck and God Bless..

In adword marketing, the most hardest part is to make research on which are the most profitable keywords we need to place on our adword ad.. That would take weeks or months to get the best keyword result. Maybe this site would help you in marketing products through adwords..

    >> Adwords <<

However if you're short of money, my best suggestion for free promotion would be, forum marketing, Do joint venture or blogging.. You could try have a look at my signature link below, it gives you everything in details..

I can understand your situation.. See Adwords is something where people can make a lot of money or loose their shirt if they don't take care of certain things.

Perry Marshall is a leader of Adwords campaigns. So I suggest you buy his definitive guide..

    The golden rule is:

Start with $50 so you don't loose a lot of money instantly. Testing is key. Test which keywords and which ad copy do best. If you have higher CTR like 2% to 5%, you are doing very good.

The major pitfall that many adword players fall into ( even the most experienced) is conversion on the site which is get adwords traffic. If you don't have good conversion on your site, you will be loosing targeted traffic. So the best way is to test your sales page before starting with bigger campaigns.

I actually summed the essense of all adwords guides in 2 paragraphs :)

    Regards,
    Rahail

I am not a fan of adwords. I believe investing that money on SEO gives you better returns in the long term. Get backlinks, start on mixx.com and digg.com, keep adding more articles, you'll reach there soon!

SEO is much harder. well it deppends on your competition really ... if you don't have a lot of results on your niche in google you should defo try work on the SEO part, otherwise I would focus on the PPC part. not necessarry adwords cuz it's very expensive, but you could try yahoo, facebook - deppending on your service, etc.
