running a sad site for a mid/large company that gets about 1% organic hits and 90% adwords. My task is to build it ground up as a wordpress CMS. wordress because everyone is comfortable with it. I could really use a site that has a step by step comprehensive thorough plan for creating SEO friendly site. There are so many I've looked at and find out their selling some "secret" LOL, 100000000000000000 oranic hits and can peal tomato too!!! I've found great blogs, but they are bits and tips i keep up with... what I'd really like is a blog or site with help, step by step, begining to end plan concerning ground floor design. Any good guides that don't peal tomatoes?
Crazy simple task.... install wordpress, install all in one seo pack, configure it, call it a day quite frankly. There are a few other simple plugins that will will help your cause but all in one handles the bulk of it. Aside from that make sure you set custom permalinks. I use this %postname% for mine but I have demographically specific urls so it would become redundant if I used say%category%%postname% Nigel
very helpfull, I didn't know you had to set permalinks.. and just installed all in one. all in one seo pack looks like it has "title" "disc" and "keywords" area to fill out with each post. Where does this information reside? It's not in my post that I can see.
The title, description, etc. set in all in one seo overides your site title, etc. in the meta tags. You should see that stuff in the home page code. All in one also handles forwarding non www to www(uhhm. maybe wordpress does that now I forget) and by default causes google etc. to not index things like the archives so you don't wind up with a ton of duplicate content on your site. So, all in one stuff is not visible, it sets up proper meta tags. hope that helps, Nigel
