Newbie needs advice - Is a $25.00 commission enough?

Hi everyone, I just started a couple of sites:
    www.contractorsincanada.com and www.contractorsintheusa.com
I am enlisting people from all over North America to get contractors to join my site for $50.00 a year. I want to hire people or create an affiliate program to get new contractors to join. My question is this: Is this a viable affiliate program? Or is this something else completely? And is $25.00 per payed sign-up good enough? I mean, it shouldn't be a hard sell, it's only $50.00 for the whole year, and it's a write off for them, but... It may take some work on the affiliate's part.

Thanks for any responses. I appreciate it, as I truly am a newbie when it comes to affiliate marketing.

    Take care,

I don't understand the purpose of the site. You want contractors to join to find work??? Or is it more like a business listing?
What kind of contractors do you have in mind?

Try shareasale or CJ. And if you want to run your won system then search for nixie in google. You will get it.

    Thanks.

Yes, it is more like a business listing, but with a lot more options.

And thanks for the advice. :)
