Newbie looking for tips from directory owners.

I've just finished my first directory and am looking for advice on getting it going. It's a new domain so I want to get it indexed and get some traffic to it before I start posting it on the forums for people to submit there sites.

Does anyone that has a directory have some tips?

 

Read the forum as much as possible. Lots and lots of tips.

I was reading another thread here and got some good tips from it I believe. A point that was made was that a quality directory doesn't have sites like viagra for example. So another question I have is, I have a gambling sub category in my directory, should I remove it?

 

Whether to allow topic such as gambling or adult topics is strictly up to you and do not necessarily make your directory bad (DMOZ, Site Sift, UncoverTheNet, have such categories). As with other categories, just try to make sure they are "quality" sites for the topic.

What about MFA site guys?
i see a lot of sites being submitted to my directories are MFA.
some of them are good layout but i think those are readymade templates being sold around.
should sites like these be included??

 

Does anyone have some real advice? All I'm getting so far is one liner's like read the forums. PortProphecy actually did have an answer and advice, thanks to you.
