Newbie here, Am I on the right track?

I've been interested in affiliate marketing for about a year now but haven't gotten serious until couple of weeks ago. I found a niche, which is one of my hobbies and click bank has one product for me to sell.

First thing I did was to go with the bum marketing techniques and wrote a sort of long article which I submitted to various article websites. Ezinearticles worked out great for getting my article as the 3rd result out of 16,000 total results but I can't promote the product there.

Next I plan on getting a domain and hosting plan to make a landing page for my review or information site with adsense as well. Just trying to promote through articles is difficult because most sites I've found don't want me to include any hyperlinks. All I wanted was just one at the end of my article.

This is where I'm at now. Thinking of doing PPC in the future once I develop a landing page. Still have to research keywords and SEO. Am I on the right track?

you can have a link in the about me section.
make a mini site rather then a landing page so you get organic traffic in the future

dont have adsense on the same page that you are reviewing the product..

For each mini site will I need to have a separate domain name? Is this kind of like a landing page?

If you advertise your site on US Freeads you can link to this from most article sites.

I would be hesitant about spending so much time and energy developing a campaign around a product that you are not sure will convert.

I would do a PPC direct linking test. Spend the amount of the commission to test it. If you make a sale, then it would be worth going forward. You can stop that ppc until you are set up and ready to go again.
if you don't make a sale, you can still move forward but it may be for nothing.

The most valuable thing I have is my time. I am willing to spend a little money if it will save me a lot of time.

    Just my opinion.

I'm right there with you domainiac, my time is money, that's exactly how I see it. Every thing I read tells me that my niche needs to be something I'm interested in but your usually person isn't going to have a their greatest passion downloading ringtones or something like that.

I guess it all boils down to bsing people into believing that's what they need. The next step is to review or presell right? Do I need to have a information site with links or a review site on the product? Swerd, what's the difference between a mini site and a landing page?

I am sorry I have so many questions, I have used the search function straight for 2 weeks and can't find any real eye openers. Is there a sticky thread somewhere that I am missing or once I figure it out do I need to turn it in to an Ebook?

I agree with domainiac there. You ask around some people who have been doing CB for a long time and ask for particular examples of good converting products. I have moved on from CB but if you want, you can PM me and I can tell you a couple that were under-promoted but gave great conversion for me.

    Regards.
