Hi, I am building a website for low income families who want cheap cars, low interest car loans, etc. I will also try to sell ads to car donation companies. I would also like to write some articles and include google adwords. I went to the google adword tool and it said that the phrase "car donation" would generate around $15 per click. I don't mean to sound dumb but could someone explain the details of this to me? Obviously it's not that easy. I'm assuming you write an article and than advertisers bid on it? Any explanation is appreciated. Thanks.
Don't go thinking you'll get $15 every time someone clicks ads on your site. The keyword tool is an estimate of how much an Adwords advertiser will need to bid to get the top couple of positions on the search network. That's the Google search engine and its search partners. It's not the amount it would generate for you as you put it. As a publisher, you are what we call the content network. The CN is totally different. The costs to advertisers are different based on different factors. Most advertisers bid much less on the CN, especially in a niche such as yours. The estimate is based on the average Quality Score (again, on the search network). As your QS increases, your costs decrease. An advertiser with a QS of 10 could pay half of one with a QS of 6. It also depends on competitors, their bids and QS. As everything always changes, the estimate is just that. A good advertiser can easily beat them. Understand too how ads are ranked. QS is taken into account as well as bid. A bid of $1 and QS of 10 outranks one of $1.50 and QS of 6. It's not a straight bid auction. Why? Because Google makes more money this way. Put all these factors together (and a few not mentioned), plus Google is not going to give you 100% of the generated revenue to you, you'll never get anywhere near the estimated cost report in the keyword tool.
No, I didn't think I would get $15 per click, thanks for the explanation. But how do people make money from all of this, or does anyone really make any money besides google? I'll still put up my car donation, cheap car loans for low income families website. I guess I'll play around with the google advertising but I think you are right, I won't make much money.
I'm into the advertising side of things. I'm not a publisher. You can make some money. How much depends on how much traffic you get and if the ads attract people to click on them and a bunch of other things. The more traffic you have, the more you will make. But to make a living where you don't have to have a job, that's unlikely. At least not from just one or a handful of sites. You may want to get into affiliate marketing and get commissions from referrals. But you make more for each sale if you have your own product or service.
No, it's a non-profit site to provide information on car loans for low income families and also provide information for people who want to donate cars. Nothing for sale.
