Newbie google products questions

I've only just discovered google products really so it's all very new. I added just one product and it says it's published and searchable but I can't find it anywhere under a search for the title I gave my product, which only returns 6 pages and I'm not on any of them.

What I'd like to know is, because I haven't done either of these, do I need a data feed for it to work properly - a proper shopping cart with a data feed (obviouslty with a few products too)? And is it better for me if I have a google checkout button inlcuded in my listing as I've seen others, and how do you inlcude your google checkout button/image?

Is there a step by step guide/best practices type thing anywhere?

No, you don't have to have a data feed, but it sure does make life easier! I think there is a discussion or two on webmasterworld on the finer points of your product showing up. However, I believe reputation (i.e. reviews) has a lot to do with it. There is a tab called "performance" in your google base that you should check after a couple of days to see if you are getting any views.

Hope that was of some help.

Thanks, I tried looking on WW but it's all a bit of a mess when you're used to DP. I found a thread pretty much identical to mine with no helpful information whatsoever. :)

P.S. How are you to get reviews if no one can see it?
