Newbie Directory Question

    Im totally new to SEO and been in the forum for just a few months. I've noticed in some marketing threads that they submit your website to directories. I was just wondering what are the main benefits of these directories and is there a list I can get and submit my website or are these lists for sale?

    And remember not to pay anything, not for lists, nor for inclusion to these directories. A lot of the directories will try to charge you. Don't pay a cent. You won't need to shell out to do well, as long as you have the time to spend, and the whole point of SEO is not to pay for advertising.

    monosodium : I was under the correct impression then. People will pay for someone else's time.

    At least now I understand why people charge for their submission services.

    If you are busy or can not spend time to submit your site to other directories.
    It is worth hiring a submit service.

    Take a note: Some of them are very bad, they are here to rip you off.
    Some just submit to free search engines, which will send you enough junk emails.

    And two of the services, I used so far are good.

    1) He is submitting my sites now - To be paid later.
    (I can already see he is doing a good job - Not Finished at this time)

    2) eXe - He has done a good job.

    Make sure to check their iTrader and all before you hire some one.

    (One guy ripped me for $60.00 just to send me junk emails, I just had to abandone that email address)

    stoc_post : Thanks for the headsup. I hope there's a thread of rippers and scammers in the forum. Say, the name of the ripper, his/her email or paypal or whichever e-money he used so can report them or warn other members.
