Hello I've only used PayPal to pay for stuff on eBay, and would like to investigate using PayPal to send or receive money to/from friends. Am I correct in understanding that... 1. filling a PayPal account with money is free when done through bank tranfers, but charged when using a bank card (Visa, etc.)? 2. transfering money between two PayPal accounts is free 3. transfering money from a PayPal account to the bank account linked to the PP account is free? IOW, PayPal makes money 2) when customers use a bank card to fill their PayPal account, and 2) when PayPal accounts are used as business accounts to receive payments? 4. If that's correct, how does PayPal know I'm using PP for business instead of a non-business purpose? Based on the amounts collected each time or over a period of time? 5. Does it matter where the two PayPal accounts originate, ie. is it OK when one user is in Hong Kong and the other one is in Germany? Are there fees in some cases? Thank you.
Why add money to your account upfront? Why not just add your bank card (Visa, etc.) to you account and use it for backup payment when your Paypal balance is low.
Thanks for the help. That's because I (obviously) don't know much about how PayPal works I just want to make as easy and cheap as possible for friends to pay me back. Apparently, on the receiving end of the transaction, I will be charged only if I have a business account, but no fee will be charged on either side as long as we both use non-business PayPal accounts?
