    Hello DP friends,

I have just registered at CJ.com and I am thinking about launching a PPC campaign on Adwords. I have a few questions first and what better place to search for an answer then here on DP in the Adwords section right:p

First I want you to know what I have never ever used a PPC programme, so I am a PPC newbee.

    Here I go..

    1) Let's say I have found a nice campaign on CJ. Webmeeting software for example. I have read the advertisers restrictions on keywords. Now I would like to start a campaign on adwords with keywords such as webmeeting, webmeeting software etc. I have done some research on those keywords, turns out that the average PPC is way too high for me. I simply can affort those PPC rates. I want to search for long/specific keywords which wouldn't cost me as much. How do I search for relavent and longer keywords which don't cost $$$$$ per click?

    2) Let say I have found some keywords relavent to webmeeting and now it's time to start my campaign. How do I even setup an adwords campaign? It's a mistery to me ( for now atleast ). Is there any good adwords tutorial available which gives me step-by-step information on how to start my own campaign? (FOR FREE?)

    3) How much do I have to spend on adwords to receive a nice $x,xxx paycheck at the end of this/next month? I already did some research and I made some money available to start on adwords. I was thinking about $200/$300 a month, would that be enough?

That's all for now. I really appreciate your help.

    1) You can simply brainstorm, or use a paid keyword tool like Wordze.com or WordTracker.com. Free tools can still work but aren't very good for long tails, which are what you should be after. If brainstorming, you can derive ideas from the merchant's website and from related or competitors' websites.

    2) Try the Adwords Learning Center and the Adwords Help Center.

    3) As a total newbie to Adwords, you shouldn't expect to make any money whatsoever. You'll almost certainly lose a load of cash as you go through the learning curve. Whether you stick with it and turn things round will be up to you.

If you want to see search actual search numbers the best free tool I have found is:
    http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/?mkt=us

This is overture though (which is yahoo). You could multiply the results by 10 to reflect what google traffic may be.

On the other hand, when you setup an adwords campaign, there is a feature called "Get Additional Keywords" or similar, which will allow AdW to suggest actual keyword phrases that ARE being searched.

Although Adwords does not show search numbers - it gives you a par graph of search popularity and advertiser popularity - so you can see if a keyword is highly trafficked or highly advertised. You can then add them to your keyword list.

    Thank you for your advise.

Just another question popped into my mind:

    1) How do I find the minimal cost-per-click for a keyword?

    Thanks.

"$200/$300 a month, would that be enough?"

It's a good start, but not really serious for real growth. More like $500-$1000...
