    I have recently joined CJ and all of my affiliate links seem to have the same format as this(even for a text link):

    Browse men who make over $ 100K at <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-2502475-10454762" target="_top">WealthyMen.com. Join Now!</a>
    <img src="http://www.awltovhc.com/image-2502475-10454762" width="1" height="1" border="0"/>

    My question is, can i just use the following link: "http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-2502475-10454762" to send people to the site or do i need to use the entire text when i click 'Get HTML'. If in fact the image tag is irrelevant, why does it display my affiliate number?

    you can choose to hide it while bringing the code by checking "Hide tracking code in link" and "Encrypt link"

    The image is there to track impressions, which most people on the merchant side don't pay attention to anyway. There's no real need for impression tracking with text links, so feel free to just use the link without image. Nobody at CJ or the merchant will care.

    The 1x1 pixel image w/your affiliate ID just allows you & merchants to track impressions for the links you display. It can help if you're rotating a few banners, to figure out which has the best click through rate.
