Hello everyone, I am a new internet marketer that is starting to look at affiliate marketing. Essentially, I am wondering what your opinions are for commission junction? My details I have a number of websites that have limited traffic under 100 uv a day. Questions for you guys 1. On average, how do you think commission junction would perform on these sites? 2. For your sites, do you opt for products that have a high EPC? 3. What advice would you give to a newb like me to cut down my learning curve on cj? Thanking everyone in advance, JDSalinger
1. CJ is a mix of many different merchant offers and how they perform on your site will be not different than most other types of affiliate marketing. 2. Search and read online as much as you can about affiliate marketing. 3. Choose products that match your sites theme while selecting the higher est EPC If your page is well written and relevant to the affiliate product and the people who reach that page are genuinely interested in it (targeted traffic) you could still get 1 to 3 signups per day with 100 daily UVs.
1. Like kentuckyslone said. It depends on which merchant you choose in CJ. You will need individual application to each merchant before you can promote their products. If you do not want to have this limitation, MarketLeverage will be another choice of good affiliate network program(my 2nd signature below). 2. It is all up to you choice to choose what merchant's products that you wan to promote. 3. You may try to choose to promote merchants who offer Per Lead CPA instead of Per Sales CPA. It will be a lot more easier to convert.
I don't think your site will perform that well with CJ. Your best bet is to pick products/offers that you like on there and then build websites around that product/offer.
Thanks for the responses. Would still like to hear what others have to say on the subject? However, for those who responded, how do you go about choosing a particular merchant? What things do you look for and what things do you try to avoid? Best, JDSalinger
I look at the Network Earnings of each merchant, if they have 2 green bars or less, I don't mess with them, but that's just me
CJ has filters to find different type of advertisers. find as many as you can then choose them according to network earning and start applying some will accept and some will reject. then those who are paying more put them at front.. and keep others on different places.
Thanks everyone who has replied. I am still about others thoughts. Do you agree with what has already been posted? Best, JDSalinger
Question 1. It depends on your site. I don't think its a question of how CJ would perform on your site, but finding a good match b/w a CJ merchant and your site. So, if your site is about webhosting then there are several webhost affiliate programs that may be great. Match your content to your affiliate program. If your site is all about women's prada shoes, you probably are not going to get many conversions with a webhosting affiliate program. Question 2. See Question 1. Then, when I am choosing b/w varying programs I look at: (1) name recognition of company; (2) 7 day EPC; and (3) 3 month EPC; (4) Network earnings; and (5) cookie life. There is no formula, but I look at those and try and decide which will give me the best chance of converting a click into a sale. Question 3 Give up on the idea that you can avoid the learning curve. There is a learning curve, read what you can, and grow your sites as you learn.
Thanks brent for the solid advice you have given there, It is every newbies ambition to try and beat the learning curve but unfortunatly it is inevitable for every thing that you try to do.
To choose the merchants or the products, choose the one with a big market and popular. There will be some competition, but its easier to promote it people many people are looking for them.
As already mentioned above, I think the most important thing is what are your websites targeting (market etc). If they are extremely good sites that provide truely unique and valuable content and information for your visitors, then that should help convert whatever traffic hits your site. You will find CJ just has a big bunch of merchants to promote and as you mentioned one method is to find the highest earning links that people are promoting and go with them, but obviously that is only good if you could fit those services/products that are performing well into your site somehow. It really depends on what market you are in and how good your sites are.
