Up to 100,000 homes in Christchurch, almost two-thirds, have been damaged by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake which hit the New Zealand city on Saturday, according to the country’s prime minister.

I found out about the tragedy minutes after the 1st wave struck . It is impressive that not a single person was hurt . Best of luck to New Zealand in their rebuilding efforts .

A supernatural event? - The gov't should be responsible beforehand to have everything necessary and ready for the restoration.....best of luck.

The damage was extensive, thank God no one's dead. This is a miracle given the severity of the earthquake. May Christchurch rebuilds and go on a normal life soon.

Look at how the Kiwi's aren't going to other nations demanding foreign aid.

Isn't it enheartening that some societies are mature enough to take care of themselves.

What could be the religion of such an industrious and self-reliant people?

I live in Christchurch and it is amazing no-one was killed. There is so much damage, we are really lucky that it was at 4am, if it was any later or earlier then there surely would have been more injuries and deaths. We are built on a Swamp so mud has arisen out of the ground everywhere, all our historic buildings are in crumbles, churches upside down and roads/bridges smashed.

No injuries/deaths, so much so good. But what is this wajid doing here? Nevertheless, thank god, he didn't bring up Allah here.

When you look at those pictures it's amazing that no one was killed. I was just reading the news, and found they just had another one yesterday. But, this one was a magnitude 5.6 earthquake, rather than a 7.0 and on the North Island. According to the news, no damage or injuries have been reported.

No you're confused, that's what shagging goats does. Shagging sheep puts hair on your chest.

Just as I wrote this, we had another big aftershock, we've had just over 1000 now in three weeks.

It's very unsettling for everyone having so many earthquakes every day.

They are powerful enough too startle everyone each time it happens - you can't tell if they are going to get big or not. And they are further damaging our buildings, all of the damage in my home has happened two weeks after the first earthquake, each earthquake is doing its damage. After I wrote my last post we had I think 5 shakes in quick succession - about 15 mins. They are normal indeed but how long are they supposed to go on for?

They should get rare and less powerful as time passes by . That is the law . The number is unusual . If you want more info let me know .
