Does anybody know if google is planning on adding the option to let adsense open to a new window. I hate having any outside links on my site that do not open to a new window.

Google is not the only one here.
Many ad networks disabled this option during last years.

It's kind of "known fact" (at least I've been told by 2 ad companies about that) that a new window produces less results for advertisers.
Users do not like new windows and many of them simply close them without looking into a content.

But at the same time there are still many ad networks that allow this option :)
    For example these guys:
    - BidClix
    - Bidvertiser
    - Clixor
    - Valueclick (not sure about current time)

So, I personaly do not expect Google to introduce this kind of ehnancement :)

Thanks for the info, I to, never thought of a new window like that, interesting. I recently completed a Google survey on how they could improve AS and that was one of the questions.

Nice catch. I suspect that thay may be beta testing

The site is too well ranked to breach tos (opinion). It seems that some products that Google offers are by invitation only . Perhaps this is one of them

I bet it is beta testing. Hopefully they will end up letting the rest of us use the new window option too in the future.

I remember reading earlier that this is being used for premium accounts. I wonder if it will eventually be used on regular accounts as well.

I think it is premium only, about.com opens in a new window too. Hopefully it will be allowed for regular accounts.

What are the requirement for a premium account? Is traffic, clicks, or both?

very nich catch Interesting to know. I am sure, with this, a lot of publishers have set a target to get to the 5 million+ search queries or 20 million+ content page views a month mark :)
