Umm ... SEO .. the entire deal... Keyword research, making sure onpage factors are good. Link building etc. etc. What do you mean?
Check out the 7 days of SEO series I posted on my blog ..... That gives a progression you could (and should) follow.
Jam, there really is NO step by step guide as far as SEO is concern. I think every SEO expert has their own way of working. I think that as long as you understand which techniques are associated with On-Page SEO and what methods to implement with Off-Page SEO you should be fine. Some may disagree and say there is a specific way to work things, but from personal experience and those who I know, it can vary. On-Page SEO 1. Keyword Research - Pick the best and most relevant keywords and phrases to your site. And adequately distribute them in the site. 2. META Tags - optimize it with quality content. 3. QUALITY CONTENT - Your page should have original and quality content. Search Engines love quality content especially Google. Off -PAGE 1. Forum posting - Make quality posts, leave information, participate properly. 2. Blog Commenting - DO NOT SPAM, leave informative comments on blogs. Do not be disrespectful by dropping a link and commenting something totally irrelevant to the blog post. 3. Article Writing and submission - Write informative articles with a good density of your keywords included. There should be a decent balance between keywords and quality content. 4. Social Bookmarking 5. Classifieds 6. Press Release There is much more to SEO of course, but this is a flash list I put together in order to give you an idea.
I would try and create the best website you can. Then as far as SEO goes... start building some quality backlinks. We usually start with web directory submissions then ask some of our friends to link to us.
1. Make sure you do a lot of keywords research and keep the 'targeted keywords' in mind. 2. Before you start submitting your site to places that 'review' the sites, make sure you don't have any 'under construction pages'. Once these things are in place, you are ready to start you on page and off page campaigns
Make sure your site architecture is set up properly. That is a big one I see a lot of people miss when building a site. Make sure you navigation is able to be easily crawled and indexed by Google.
