New website ranking - age of website

I have recently launched a new website that is about 7 month old.

I have created some backlinks. I have some good content at the website.

Will website age play a role in ranking? If I leave the website now and do not add content or anymore backlinks, should I get an increase in ranking in month 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 etc.?

It is totally depended on the website you launched if it offers service then it depends on the quality and effective service you provide or if it is about content then content is king you regularly need to update the content, people are seeking for fresh and genuine always...

Google does not like 'Feast and Famine' type of sites. Such sites where you add content and links for few days and then ignore them for months are definitely not going to rank. Fresh content is valued by Google so you need to add content at a regular pace. Similarly a natural link velocity or the rate at which you build links will not cause the Penguin penalty to get triggered.
