Hi, I've recently changed my website in the last month or so to a wordpress blog which has been a great help as it has allowed me to update my website on a daily basis without having to create new html webpages. The site is www.shophelper.co.uk Can anyone recommend how I can improve on my SEO for this blog, i've tried to bulk out the welcome section with main keywords but I don't seem to be getting many UV's and my organic searches are less than 20% (most coming from referals). Can someone advice what my best options are to improve the SEO and SERPS for my website? I know content is a vital part of any website and I am trying to post at least 2 blogs a day but with other work commitments I'm guessing it will be a slow process. Thanks in Advance! Adam
Do keyword research on your topics. Make sure you use a long tail keyword as the start of your title. Make sure you are set up for RSS feed, tag and pinging, technorati and everything else. Word Press does most of the SEO for you. So it's up to you to choose your title well. This is what shows up as the title when you read the post. Title tags has a lot to do with how the SE will determine the relevancy of your post, and subsequently how well you do in the SERPS
Thank you depotgang, Could you possibly give be an example of a good Title tag - I think at present I usually use Titles such as "10% discount new england football kit" etc. Also could you explain what a long tail keyword is and how I would implement this into my title tags? Thanks, Adam
I would use a keyword research tool like Wordtracker or SEO elite and find out what traffic I could find for the main keywords for your post. So I would use a title like "New England Football Kits - 10% Discount" -- I prefer my keyword phrase at the start of a title. Then when you bookmark the site it will set up a link using this keywords and the SE will index your site based on the title tags as well. It's just one factory to consider but since it is one you can control you should work hard to make sure you blog post have good keywords. Good luck.
