What is the fastest, cheapest and most effective way to market or advertise a new website without spending a ton of money?? Any ideas or input would be great!

What exactly is signature advertising (still kinda new to this).

Do you happen to know of any great link exchange software that i would not have to build myself?

I will try to collect a list of blogs pertaining to my niche.

Thanks for the ideas everyone..keep them coming!

A signature link is what I have at the bottom of this post. You really need to build links manually.

Don't try to automate a link exchange...

Find sites that are growing, just like yours, in the same niche, then exchange links...

Also, produce some kind of articles that stir up interest about your site... Then submit the articles to places like digg.com... it will create links, and hopefully, bring in some traffic...

Any particular way to approach these sites that are similar to mine? I would think they would not have open arms to competition?

Articles are a good idea, and I checked out Digg.com; great site. Thanks for the help.

I found getting people to talk about your unique site extremely hard. I find a lot of people don't recommend something unique either because they're in the mentality of "whats in it for me" or for fear of looking like they're selling/promoting something, or being our of the norm.

I have 2 unique services, and I can tell you it is damn hard getting the buzz out, and getting people talking about it. Even when you create a product that delivers beyond expectation, cheaper than competing offers or even free, people are skeptical, expect unrealistic instant results without committing any time or effort to really try it out and generally dismiss it as marketing noise.

Most people talk about whatever everyone else is talking about and try things only when their friends and peers are using it.

PR, linking, Google, articles, content, social bookmarking etc.. They're so absorbed in it that they unconsciously look past new "unique" sites and even pre-judge or associate them with past unrelated failed sites.

This is probably normal consumer behavior. I'm sure new band experience the same issue when trying to get people to listen to their music.

Do you agree? or have a golden tip for sspreading the buzz on a "unique" site.

    Let me know.

I am kind of in the same boat about having a unique service...it was difficult for consumers to grasp the concept at first because this service had been done a certain way for decades and they were trained to think it could only be done this way. I took this mentality and tried to think how I could change it..and I knew I couldn't...but everyone else could. So, I did took a month long marketing tour of the U.S.A. just to spread word of mouth advertising and branding. I found that once I got a few people excited about the product in person, then it was a domino effect; they would tell a few people and those people would tell some. Apparently it just took someone in first person rather than via PC, phone, etc. and now I am getting positive feedback.
