I can get indexed in 24-48 hours easily. All you need are links. Dont use the sitemaps or the directories. Get a GOOD INDEX PAGE link. Directories arent so good because your link is on some sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub folder and it may take weeks or months before it is spidered since the link is too deep. You need index page links even if it costs money.

We've got several PR 6 & 7 sites, new sites are always indexed same day. That's always seemed much more effective than anything else.

That's fantastic. I once put a sitemap into there for my articles site, and it just never did it..it just sat there for several months with 'no information available"..

New domains get indexed fast as long as you put links from a high PR site.

If you used an expired domain, it'll take you about 6 months. I have observed this on my 2 expired domains. They got indexed after 6 months. It seems that there is a 6 month "penalty"/"sandbox" for expired domains.

I blogged about it at my blog

I vouch for index page link to get a new site listed quick. I have done a few sites in a couple of days.

Exactly. I also think so... One of my domains took 6 months to get indexed, later i came to know, that was an expired domain.

As the others have said that is nothing unusual, I dont bother submitting to google simply add a link to the site in my sig here and get as many other inbound links as pos. I have had sites indexed within 48 hours before too.

Just curious - how many directories and which directories... free or paid?

But certainly sitemaps will help google make sense and index the site quickly. The only thing is whether or not the pages will stay in the index or continually change to supplemental.

I don't submit url to google because it usually makes it slower to get indexed. If you get a high PR site linking to your site it will get indexed in as short as 3 days.

Forum posting is a big factor for SE to index your page.

And my new site was indexed within 4 days as well... just because I left a Sig in another forum... However, Googlebot is now taking time to revisit it and index the rest of my pages... it's about 14 days ago... and I have a site map.txt as well...

I should feel lucky to be indexed so quickly instead of being fed up with the fact that the last cached occured 14 days ago...:)

I haven't used google sitemaps, but I've got pages indexed and showing PR within a matter of days. Mostly luck I think based upon the timing of google PR update. It was also an expired domain. On the next PR update though, it was sandboxed and the PR disappeared. Weird Eh.

i didn't use sitemap, didn't addurl and my site got indexed within 2-3 days. Just post my url to a few high PR directories. Then wait another 1-2wk for some 50-70%% of pages on the site to be indexed automatically. I saw most of the pages indexed on friday, not sure if it's coincidence or what.

In fact, if you do what dotcompals did, your site will probably get index in 1.5 days. That's what I experienced in the past. And not to forget to submit to Yahoo, MSN and DMOZ!

It may be myth. But, I've heard that submitting your URL using the 'Add Url' feature of google will actually slow down the process and could get you sandboxed. I had this happen to me once about 3 years ago with my Kansas City Chiefs fan site.

I never submitted any of my other sites again and my pages are indexed by google very quickly now. Google has a way of finding pages. I have several sites that I don't have any links pointing to, but google has still found them.

So my suggestion would be to get backlinks from sites that are already indexed, don't use the Add URL feature of Google. If you want your site indexed quickly, I would get a backlink from a high PR site since they are generally crawled more frequently.
