I have plans of starting my personal website and improve it piece by piece....which would have forums...and later start ecommerce too....what other options do we have other then css,xhtml... any best books for this??????? And would it be a good option for web hosting??????please let me know any populars or good web hosting sites...
Start with a basic plan for your webhosting - somewhere like GoDaddy where you can get a basic site up and running and have decent hosting/service for something like $4 a month or so. From that, read everything you can on how to code - learn PHP for your dynamic stuff. Oh yea, read lots of forums about web design.
What would be the best option use html, css or php...I am in no hurry and want to develop slowly....Is GoDaddy a good choice for ecommerce, planiing to have forumns and other stuff, security etc etc...So if i use goDaddy i need to build my site on php and then host that using godaddy...is that right...i am just gaining knowledge so please help
If your going with ecommerce and forums the most popular would be coded in php with css styles and javascripts learning the basics of those will put you in good shape for addons, repairs and updating of course you still need to know html as you also use that
what would it cost me if i use the above to build a site...any webhosting which cost less but very good in performance..Incase i use php do i need to buy software or is it free?????and is having forumns with in ecommerce an good option..
I would look into some of the more common carts and see the add ons for them. My favorite one is Zen-Cart.com the developers are very active in the forums and very helpful lots of addons for it. Another I dont care for because in my opinion the support is lousy and but you can try another popular one oscommerce.com Both are very adaptable Zen-Cart offers a forum plugin P.S. These are free Zen-Cart is now included with cpanel. Also I do believe a recommendation by paypal for commerce solution
I always recommend to start small and grow big. I would recommend to do it in plain HTML (CSS is fine but sometimes Firefox does not like it). For hosting - there are so many, GoDaddy would be good I'd say. For shopping cart - PayPal or StormPay depends on what you want to sell. Again, these ideas are for newbie to start. I would use different resources but I am experienced.
I like php because you can add in scripts and database infor more easily. However it is harder to work with when starting out so you may want to use HTML. I would definitely at least try out Dreamweaver free for 30 days trial version. You can also get hired help for small pieces of the site at rentacoder.com
