So I did some research about monetizing my website and found many cons about doing it too early. Stories about having your Adsense account banned etcetc. So I do not want to go down that road. But on the flipside, if I advertise later with a decent amount of traffic, then that is also fine for me. However, the con is that switching from no ad to 3-4 ads per page might reflect poorly on my website when taking in consideration my customers. That is why I wish to do something right in-between. I noticed that for the most part, change is something people dislike (whether that be new design/new ads on website/etcetc). That is why I wish to have ads from the moment I launch the website so that the customers have nothing really to argue about... Ads are everywhere and people have become accustomed to it. It is only when it is introduced later on that people all of a sudden find it disturbing and annoying lol. I wish to put ads but maybe do it for free (non-profit)? Only until I gain a decent amount of traffic will I change the ads to generate revenue. Is that something that would work? Yes, I will be advertising for free from Adsense and so that would prevent any confusion of possibly getting banned (for new websites) and it would fix the problem of implementing ads at a ladder stage (which would negatively impact my daily visitors). Could you tell me how you guys would personally handle this situation and if my option is do-able/good?
Well first, you start with a wrong idea, that if you put adsense on a low traffic site you'll get banned. So all the rest following is also biased, so I can't answer.
WEll in the words of John Chow, you should wait until you have around 800 pageviews a day at least. As far as getting banned you can have low traffic with adsense, that won't get you banned..trust me. I personally have a rule where I put no more than ONE ad on a blog, until I build up the traffic quite a bit. And even then make sure the ad blends in VERY well to the site.
