I just launched my web-based business for getting a will online. http://www.willbreeze.com/ I have spent some money on google ppc ads and have gotten lots of impressions and a decent amount of visitors for my first 3 weeks (around 600). However it's obviously not enough and I need more traffic because ive had a very low number of orders. traffic from organic google seems to be increasing but I don't know exactly how I should be marketing the site. I've been tweeting a little bit, bought some facebook ads and I've posted to DMOZ. Im new to all of this and im sure there are huge things I'm missing. Any tips or help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
Nice idea! Here are my quick thoughts... Nobody wants to make a will - unless motivated by some outside event. I would advertise offline - classifieds in the baby/marriage/death notices section of local newspapers, weeklies, church bulletins, etc. Target your PPC ads (and use Bing, too - cheaper) to the same demographics as above. See what the organic search terms were used to find your site and do some SEO and backinking on those terms - in other words, give 'em more of what they're looking for. Try localizing the PPC by State and/or City and add an 800-number (virtual ones are cheap!) and put it in the headline or description. Add the 800 number to your landing page. What's your current bounce rate and average time on site? Add an email autoresponder capture form popup and send them a free report. I can think of more Let us know how things progress. Best of Success, S.
average time on site is just over 2 minutes, with a bounce rate of 62%. I was thinking of offline advertising. I wonder if my money would be better spent with a radio ad or billboards, or something else.
I'd start with local Classifieds and Direct Mail postcards to a compiled list. Radio is expensive and not targeted...must run the same spot at the same time over and over again - worthless, IMHO. Billboard seen for average 4 seconds! No time to write down or remember URL...must be seen (and remembered) over and over again - worthless, IMHO. TV - same as above. Magazines...I've had good luck with the right publications - large, color ads, bought as remnant space, cheap!
Stepheniscoe is giving you some very valuable info. I will echo MAGAZINES. First of all they target your demographic and your service is a good fit. Apply that same thinking to the sites online that you advertise on, they must be on target. Your site is great, very nice looking and it gets to the point. GOOD LUCK.
thanks a lot for the advice - I think magazines is where the best bang for my buck will come from for online advertising. I'll let you know how it goes!
Have a go at classified ads, as well as aiming for longtail keywords with less competition. Sounds harsh but old people are more likely to want their will sorting so how about contacting retirement homes, and other places where there's an endless supply of oldies? I do think you'll have more luck with classifieds though. Under services have a will writing ad, and when contacted forward them onto your site.
Don't forget that new parents are another good market for wills. They want to be sure that their new little one is well taken care of if something happens to them. Regarding offline advertising, you may want to do something as simple as put up flyers or business cards on local bulletin boards in community locations such as libraries and stores. Also, our local school district puts out a quarterly newsletter. Local businesses are able place ads in it. Something like that might be a good market for you too.
FaceBook ads i have found extremely useful, i would recommend continuing/increasing that aspect. Although as you sell wills, and alot of FacBook users are probably to young to care, i would suggest that you use FaceBooks ad targeting options to target people only over the age of 50. Also to increase traffic you could try setting up an RSS feed, and FaceBook even has RSS feeds automatically from your product/website/which ever category. check out my post on RSS feeds to get some more information. http:// forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2190740#post16293191 (link broken up to allow me to post easily)
