In my offline life I own a vending company and have been trying to think of new ways to advertise some of my websites and came up with this idea: I usually purchase coffee and juice paper cups from the local Costco and never thought much about them but last month I decided I would order custom cups with some of my websites displayed on them and so far I have used about 8,000 cups and have generated some decent traffic, on average for every 1,000 cups that get used I have been getting about 150 visitors. Now you may not own a vending company but it would still be very easy for you to try this, most vending compaines are small operations so if you make a few phone calls I am sure you would find someone willing to work something out with you. Just another idea to promote your website... Good Luck
Very nice, strategy. How much did it cost you to print per 1,000 cups? And how much do you think will the vending companies like yours will charge per advertisement? Thanks in advance
good idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but you can't always gaurantee about the response, atleast innovative and traying, quality and targetted traffic.
I don't have the price sheet with me, but will grab it tomorrow at the office and post the prices and yes anshul123 you are correct about the response. All you can do is test and track to see what results you actually get.
Could you let me know the prices for 1,000 cups and how / where you order them? pm is fine if you want. Thanks!! I really like this idea.
Yeah, the percentage of return is quite low, but it would depend on what you print. For example if you have a really good Catch Phrase or have something that would entice the viewers to visit your site, returns could be around 15-20%. That would be big enough.
Some of you have asked for prices, here is what I have: I ordered mine from a local company and they had a min. order of 5,000: Single color $ 0.09 per cup Two color $ 0.10 per cup three color $ 0.12 per cup Just for the heck of it I did a quick search to see what the national average price would be: 1,000 cup order with one color $ 0.19 per cup 5,000 cup order with two colors $ 0.14 per cup Some places charge a small setup fee, other places offer free setup and shipping if you place a large order. I know everyone wants to do it cheap so to really make this work you need to place a fairly large order like 5 or 10 thousand cups to get a good price. One other idea I have is a contest version, I will place a sign on the coffee machines saying something like win $50.00 and on the bottom of every cup I will place a sticker with a random number code and in order for the person to see if they have won they will have to go to my website and enter the number.
Hello Abbadox. This is a good idea, but I'd like to know do you have a webiste related to the vending business you do, or do you promote your other websites using this strategy. I mean it would make sense if you have a company website and you promote it using cups, but will it bring good and *qualified* traffic if you promote something not related to coffee and juice?
its a very nice idea indeed .... but many of u guys are missing some basic points i feel . 1. abbadox was succesful in his venture as it was complimentary to each other . anyone thinking of doing the same with your local Coffee vendor or Juice vendor might not , as it would be additional burden to you to keep a check of a toal new avenue of marketting . 2. the no of hits you should be expecting would be based entirely upon how popular the coffee vendor you are gonna use and how many of his customers are website surfers and buyers . 3. This idea is simmilar like having printed mousepads or gifting calendars to your clients or advertising at the back / side of a bus .
All very good points, there are many ways and places to advertise and I just wanted to point out one idea I had. This may or may not be right for you, the point was more to get people thinking outside the box and see if maybe they would come up with a new way to advertise, maybe you can think of a way to tie in your current job or favorite hangout spot to advertise your website(s).
no offense there Abbadox .. i am just continuing on your idea , i just wanted justify this point only ... that it doesnt have to be the coffee cups for everyone
Sorry no website for vending.... I KNOW I KNOW, I SHOULD HAVE ONE!!...lol I started my vending business a long time ago and now it is pretty much the way I want so I just never got around to setting up a site for it. I even had ideas of an ebook at one time to help people get started in vending, another idea never done, maybe someday..
