New Users can't use quick posts if URL exists

I understand the FAQ that states new users have to fulfill requirements to post live links. However, since quick posts automatically convert urls to links, as a new user I keep getting a message saying I can't post links. Yet, I never attempted to post any links.

What I figured that happened is the url conversion happens before the requirement check for new users.

I know the simple solution is to always use advanced posts, but this may be confusing to some.

you are right, once the user knows what the problem is they can take steps to insure they don't have the problem again.

However, if the user doesn't know what's going on, it is very confusing. I feel that good programming doesn't require the user to figure out what the problem is and take steps to stop it from happening.

I figured that it was caused by multiple plugins that DP installed, and from a programming standpoint wasn't difficult to fix.

I know I could learn the vBulletin system and fix the problem in less than an hour.

And I wasn't bitching, rather stating an observation.

We like to make it as difficult as possible for new users to post;)

Suggestion will be passed to the admins and they can handle (or not) how they see fit.

    Thanks.
