Hi digital pointers! I'm looking forward to being an active part of this community - since I work from home full time now and would like to develop relationships with other people doing similar things to me. Since this is an introduction post, I'll tell you a little about myself. I live in the frozen reaches of canada where's there's still snow on the ground. I'm in my mid 20s and grew up on the internet so it's the world I know best. After almost 3 years of dabbling in affiliate marketing and web publishing I went full time this winter and am baaaarely scraping by with internet business, which i'm really happy about! If you want to see some of my stuff, check out my 5 gallon bucket website @ http://fivegallonideas.com . It's my most popular site so far. But today I'm here to ask your advice about a different site, in possibly a very unprofitable niche. It's the first popular site I ever put up, and it makes almost no money on relatively high traffic volume. Right now I'm just monetizing with Google Ads, which I get an absolutely pathetic 0.08% clickthrough on. In comparison, all my other websites are doing between 1% and 5% CTR on google ads. I think the issue is that the website is basically targeted at the ultimate ubernerd - dwarf fortress players. Do you know the game? I know nerds are far less likely to click on ads, and far more likely to actually have an adblock installed. I'm one of them after all. So I'm wondering if you guys have any advice about what I can promote to these tough customers - is there an affiliate product or ebook these readers would respond to? Site: dfstories.com
Dear Trevbillion, if this site is getting traffic (and little money) then you should sell it on flippa. Otherwise build your niche list with it and then you can make money promoting related products. If you cannot find any suitable product, make your own to sell. You can outsource it.
