New URL Alexa rank 9,258 real?

    Hi DP forum partners

    First of all, thanks for the forum and members. Your postings and tools are nowhere similar to find on all the world wide web.

    I created a free co.cc domain (thanks to the forum) on 12/25/07, uploaded a directory to my server, used some services from this forum (manual social network and manual directory) and post the site in directoycritic.

    As of writing this post, I have 316 links to approve (I already approved around 50 today).

    I know PR and alexa ranking are only good tools for specific purposes, but when searched alexa I found something like "no data found" AND rank of 9,258 for the domain. Is this right or something I don't understand? Is this good or not.

    Someone can give me some light?

    Hey,
    The reason is you probably useing sub-domain of co.cc.

    co.cc it self have alexa rank 9,258 therefor every sub-domain have this rank.

    i'm surprised co.cc's ranking is so low, that's got to be the best free hosting domain ever, it makes websites look like they're hosted on tld's

    Dont put to much weight in alexa ranking as it can be faked so dam easy its not funny.

    Really depends on the alexa rankings - as to how effectively you can judge the site, sites within the top 50 000 are more accurate than the rest or ones above them.

    Well,
    Imo, alexa rank only tells you how a website is popular among the webmasters/bloggers and so on.

    As only the ones with alexa toolbar can take affect.

    Yes, or you can also use the Alexa proxy referrer , that one helps with Alexa ranking since the 1st day of using it.
