    First of all, I had to create a new thread for this despite having a discussion already going on in another thread because of:
    1.) That another thread was not exclusively to "bitch" about that feature - it was just a question and the thread gone south
    2.) There was no poll

    What I wanted to have a separate discussion, with poll where we get to actually see what peoples think. If Mods want, they can merge these threads as long as the poll is kept intact.

    We are talking about the new "over the head" constant scrolling of twitter feeds from members. Honestly, didn't like much. Basically, it's more like a distraction than a luxury. On top of every forum wherever I got, it's just there dying to get my attention. I had to remind myself a numerous times since morning that what actually I was doing before being distracted with that scroll. :p

    The idea isn't bad, but the implementation probably is. Or at least, provide the users the option in their profile to disable seeing that thing. Just my 2 cents.

    I myself am a Premium member, yet I am on the other side. What do you guys have to say?

    I guess you don't like the animated banner ads either and want the option to hide them in your profile too?

    I was already looking for a while for a setting to disable it, it really did annoy me that much, it's almost unbearable.

    Usually i only write and read in programming sections of the forum, but now this thing forced me into general sections, looking for a help. So, thanks a lot for this thread :)

    The whole thing is a bit of an experiment. The original intent of the white bar was only as a place to house the Like/Tweet buttons... but it left an awful lot of white space. If anyone has suggestions on how to do the Facebook Like/Twitter buttons, please let me know. The old positioning was a bothersome because it was appended to the end of the breadcrumb, which looked really strange with long breadcrumbs.

    One thing about the buttons is they need to be somewhere that is universal for all pages (which is why the breadcrumb sort of worked before since it's on all pages).

    If someone has ideas for better placement of the Like/Tweet buttons, please let me know. As far as the twitter feed, it's nothing more than white space filler because of the current button placement. Might change it to be system notifications or something else. Or just do away with it if we can work out better placement for the Like/Tweet buttons.

    People just saying, "I don't like it." isn't terribly helpful. "I don't like it, and you should relocate the Like/Tweet buttons to xxxxx." would be far more useful. :)

    I find it very annoying indeed. I think it would be good if there was an option to turn it off in User CP, or if not, if the feed only appeared on the Index.

    Click the image on the far right of the bar and it will collapse (and remember it was collapsed on subsequent page views).

    No... I know its for premium members right ? so I'm thinking use mt_rand for messages collected rather then scrolling them all, which seems to be the main objective about this new addition

    So you are talking about just not scrolling them, right?

    Correct, its the scrolling that's causing the controversions... so its just a suggestion mind, have your query statement MT_RAND() and LIMIT to 1 from your GROUP of premium members.

    ...or couldn't people just collapse the bar and not have to see any of it? And that's already an option, and less work for me. :)

    @Helvetii,
    Animated ads were never a point since they blend really well the the green color scheme/background and I hardly ever find them distracting. The issue about the continuously "Dancing" twitter feeds.

    @Shawn,
    Yes, you are right. Peoples should come up with constructive criticisms instead of pure "Bitching". If the placement of twitter/Facebook buttons are an issue here, believe me there is an awful lot of horizontal space on DP forum to place them. Here are a few suggestions, in order of preference:

    (Please bear with me as I ain't a web/graphic designer myself. Just played a little with paint brush to "hint" about what I wanted to express, not the actual prototype. Of course, you will need to match the color scheme, size and other things before finalizing to place them elsewhere):

    1. Next to "Reply to Thread" button:
    [IMG]

    2. Next to thread title:
    [IMG]

    3. Or if you want to make it in HEADER only, between "Quick Links" and "Advanced Search" (Ofcourse taking care of colors)
    [IMG]

    There are a lot many places to suggest. The thing is, if you really are willing to place only the Twitter and FB buttons - we ain't short of space. However, if live twitter feeds is what you want to make us eat, that's another story.

    Doesn't work because not all pages have a "Reply To Thread" button.

    Also doesn't work because not all pages have a thread title (or any title for that matter).

    Doesn't work because that space is already in-use (put your cursor in the search box to see what I mean).

    It needs to be something universal that works on all pages...

    Too annoying, I guess you are trying to get more features for premium members right? I think if you want to place facebook like and tweet button then the best place would be at the right side of navbit.

    Nope, definitely not going for annoying or even a thing for premium members. Everyone can completely hide it already (if I wanted to annoy you, it would not be able to be hidden). It's also not officially a premium member feature... what goes there is subject to change... currently it's premium member feeds, tomorrow it could be something totally different.

    If universal placement, then we have a lot space next to the forum location identifier (The one with "Home" icon). Although, the text there would be changing but the space to put the buttons will always be there across all pages of forum.

    But its useless at the moment, sometimes it shows very much unrelated to the forum tweets.
