New traffic generator idea put into motion..

I've done so much freakin' coding and reading this past week i've got bits and bytes coming out of my eyes, lol. But i think it was well worth it. I took a not so original idea (the technology behind digg.com) and formatted it for the Internet Marketing world.

My thought process was this- the best sites that do well contain user submitted content, and digg seems to be "doing well". So I took some open source code which is still in beta and decided to take a crack at it myself.

Not sure I'll ever take something like that on again, lol. I haven't programmed since I was in high school..oh, about 15 years ago.

Anyways, I thought it would be a great idea to give IM's another opportunity to show their goods. We all need more traffic. And people are always posting about their site getting overloaded with traffic from really popular sites. I'm aiming to become THAT site. I've posted this on a few other boards, but I'd love some more feedback.

Good idea, not a good idea?

    www.imbuzzworthy.com

To maintain the "freshness" of the listings on the site, affiliate marketing is NOT allowed. So all deals, stories, announcements are for primary providers only- not affiliate marketers. Althought that may change, I haven't decided.

Some features of www.imbuzzworthy.com which I think will dramatically improve people to market their site or service/product is

    1) EXPOSURE, EXPOSURE, EXPOSURE - get seen and be heard.
    2) Become popular and stay on top. People will visit this site daily and vote on different buzzes throughout the day. Every time someone votes on your buzz, your buzz goes to the top of the list on the front page.
    3) Leave comments for others to see. If something is truly good, let others know! If it is something not worth checking out, let the masses know as well.
    4) As a registered user, YOU become an editor of what is on the site. You can make a recommendation of whether something is spam or redundant by choosing an option from a drop down box. As the admin however, I have the final say.
    5) Need a backlink, anyone?
    6) Search on tags. Tags are just another word for keyword in this application.
    6) One of the most exciting features that I like are the RSS features of the site. If you use any kind of standard feedreader, whether offline or online, you can stay up to date with all the current hot buzz offers in the IM world. Take this for example-

    1) Go to http://www.google.com/reader/view/ and enter this url into the input box on the site: http://www.imbuzzworthy.com/rss2.php

This demonstrates how you can stay on top of what's hot on IMBuzzworthy. It's very very similar to just going into the Warrior Special Offer forum and taking a gander at what is being posted. However, this rss feed updates continuously so if you're using an offline reader, you can always check to see the newest buzz.

Ok, so that's for all the general published buzzes. What about YOUR buzzes specifically? Yep, you enter as many announcements as you want on different subjects and get your very own rss feed to do what you would like with it. My suggestion would be to enter that feed into the various online feed submission sites. Why? Because on the chance that someone is searching for a particular keyword that may be associated with your buzz, they may find it in the feed....

..and that will lead them back to imbuzzworthy.com and read your buzz. Which will then lead back to your site.

So what do you guys think? Will it be a hit? A flop? Is it designed in such a way to help you market what you're trying to get out there?

I still have some work to do to it, but the meat is all there.

I don't get it. What do you offer that Digg doesn't?

Also, have you tested your site at all in Firefox?

Your top banner repeats when screen resolution is larger than made for your site. You might want to change it so that it is centered instead of repeat.

I can tell there is lots of work in it. Keep it up.

I guess having those things on the right panel of the page kind of throw me off and I don't really know what to think about it, but I just get confused when I try to use the site.

Digg is primarily for technology, whereas I'm targetting the Internet Marketing world. Plus, I offer the ability to have your own rss feed if you don't have one already.

Marketing via rss is becoming a pretty hot trend.

Still coding, so I haven't really done extensive testing in firefox yet.

I'm going to put up an intro tab to what the site is all about and how to use it to avoid confusion about what it all is and how it works.

I'm definately going to fix that banner resolution issue, lol.

Yep, and it seems that everyone is trying to sell something on the net, whether it's the latest ebook, traffic, copywriting, adsense sites and I just thought it would be a good idea to provide a launching pad for new things much like Digg does it.

The trick is to get people educated on using it. I'm doing up the how-to's now.

If this doesn't work in the IM world, I think I'm going to make a new site based on this technology and make it a "new website" announcement site.
