New tool: Webmaster Toolbar

I just finished a simple tool to quickly get info such as Pagerank and Backlinks about a site.

The information is displayd as a floating window over the current page, which means you dont have to navigate to a new page to get it :)

I can think of lots of other stuff to add (eg check for validation etc), but thats for a bit later.

let me know what you think.

Good job. I like what you have so far. Please keep us posted. I do seem to have a small problem, though. After it is shown, I can't get it to close. I tried clicking the X close button, of course. It doesn't seem to do anything. Any thoughts?

Thats strange, the 'X' button should close it. I tested on both firefox and IE.
    what browser are you using?

Hate to be a party pooper, but there's a great firefox plugin that does all that and more:

    http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/

It shows google page rank and alexa status for whatever page you're viewing. You can also rightclick on an icon to find out backlinks, whois, keyword density, and even see the page in archive.org

Also shows google and yahoo cache.

I use SearchStatus. The only thing that his tool does that it doesn't is the NoFollow detection, which I consider useful.

I also have that plugin installed..

It shows pagerank and alexa, but to get backwords links etc, it has to open another page. My little tool shows all just there and then.
This is just a first version though and more is coming.

plus the firefox extenstion doesnt work in IE ;)

Mystic thats the same I use.. does it show an error message in the javascript console?

It does NoFollow detection for me and I love it. Everything highlights red that is nofollowed and it's easy to see it on the page. I use it everyday and it's a good tool. I also use an alexa plugins for FF that gives me alex ratings for each site I visit.

Is this from yours? I can't seem to find any indication of the source.

No chrome package registered for chrome://navigator/locale/navigator.properties .

Hmm. The backlink reporting does not seem to be correct. For example, for blazemp.com in Yahoo, it says 665. Yahoo actually reports 1,120,000.

SearchStatus has NoFollow detection? I have never noticed that before. I don't see it in options too. I will have to test that. I saw that it was marked in red on your test page after I clicked it in your tool, but I don't think it was marked before, that. As for Alexa, SearchStatus does have that, I know. I use that frequently.
