New to YPN and Confused About GEO Targeting

I new to YPN. I have only had my account for a few weeks and have YPN displayed on my directory (BizFire-Directory).

After reading through several post here it seems we are only allowed to display the adds to U.S. customers. My question is HOW are we to control who views/click on our adds? I have seen referances to PHPAdsNew and GeoLite but have to admit I don't have a clue what either of these are.

Before I run in to trouble, can anyone explain how to best handle this?

phpadsnew is a program you install and which that checks the IP address of your visitor and then decides what ad(s) to show them (YPN, Adsense, other, etc). There are other programs that do it, but they are all based on the IP address of your visitor. When a visitor from a non-US IP comes to your site, YPN ads are not displayed to them, but rather an alternative you have set up.

Ok, I understand Yahoo's TOS for YPN but do they really expect every publisher to go through all the extra hassle and possible expense of finding, installing and running some script just to be able to display their adds?

I know that to be able to use YPN I have to abide by their rules but it seems like an awful lot to ask.

I understand where you're coming from. They obviously have the information, since they filter out the international ads, along with possibly banning you from it.

But, looking at the silver lining, when using scripts such as phpadsnew or mysimpleads, you have more control over your ads and you can change the ads from any location without having to edit the source of your code. It allows much more flexibility, along with keeping your YPN account ;) .

OK enough is enough..first of all the YPN ads that are displyed are relevant to the content,,thus less clicks,,higher pay per click than adsense, but quantity ads up..so i'll switch to adsense and wait for Yahoo to change that stupid rule, if im in bulgaria and i want bulgarian clicks through YPN,,can't do it? geeeeez

"it seems we are only allowed to display the adds to U.S. customers."

YPN will not pay on on your non-US ad clicks. Plus, it is said they will kick you out for too many non-US visitors.

That's why you want to use a GeoTargeting Ad Program, such as mySimpleAds or phpadsnew, so you can target AdSense or such to those non-US visitors, and make money off of them, while protecting your YPN account.
