New To WordPress

I’ve decided to move one of my blogs from blogspot to wordpress. I bought a domain and hosting from Godaddy but have no idea what to do to get it going. The domain is active and I’m currently uploading WP to the server. That’s what I know, from here on I’m totally lost. Can anyone help me with the steps to get my blog running correctly? I would also appreciate if anyone could warn me of any vulnerability that may be important.

I think all of this is outlined in the Wordpress.org site. I starting using Wordpress the other on one of my sites and I've been impressed with the level of documentation.

I would be more than happy to help you get it up and running. If you have any instant messanger clients that would be the easiest. If not we can email or PM.

Thanks Riboflavin for offering to help. I was over at Godaddy looking for the faq section and I think that the problem is that the Domain hasn't been activated yet. They really don't provide a lot of information. Anyway I uploaded all the files to the newly created database, changes the file name and configured it to include Host and DB details. When I try and run the scrip using the browser nothing happens, I think it´s because of the domain not being activated. Do you know if there is a way to check if the domain is active?

Yep but before I uploaded WP it had a page informing that the site was under construction. After uploading the files it started giving me the error. Now I don't know what this means!!! Is this something I did or is the domain not active yet?

Delete all files in the root. Then upload index.html with some text in it and we will see what happens.

Yup, that would be the right way to do it.
Although I advise you to use Apache as a webserver, because it's more reliable than IIS, and faster.

Dynn I’m so lost it’s not even funny. I didn’t know they already had some scripts. I find the information they have really insufficient. I don’t know how to find out if my domain name is active, or if it is directing to the database I created. I’m 100% lost now.

    emporer...

first thing I'd say is to not use the automated script... just me...

i also wouldn't delete everything in the root directory... I'd only delete what you uploaded...

once you get your hosting back to an original state, it should only take a couple of minutes to get WP up and running if you follow the 5 minute install (do a google search for that term)... If you need help and dynn isn't available you can pm me or yahoo im me at JetShack
