    Hi,
I got a VPS cause my shared plan is getting to small for me. I could use some assistance getting it all setup.

I have setup servers on my home pc, but this is a little different.

I would be willing to pay someone to help, or if anyone just wants to start out with some tips we can go from there.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Do you have a control panel with the VPS? What specifically is it you are looking for help with?

    Hi,
Well, now I am needed assistance with Mysql. They had a site int he box package I loaded for my os, adn it has the Cent OS 5, Kloxo, php 5.2, mysql 5.?? So,t hat made it pretty easy. I got domains setup and all. But I am having issues connecting to a db I created.
It says the user name prefixes the db name, and the db user name. So, I made a db called garden. I tried using root_garden, admin_garden, and just garden for the db name, and db user name, and nothing is working.
I even tried using hte root and my password, and that didn't even work.
So, I don't know if there is a setting some where I need to look at or what, but because it is unmanaged support isn't going to help.

If this is better for the mysql forum, I will post it there if I don't get any response.
    Thanks,
    Michael

in admin user its not required to add user_ for dbs

try to set password in mysql console in ssh once and try

Thanks, just using the root id and password worked.
Don't seem to secure though, if someone got that some how, they could compromize the complete db.

But now that is fixed, what about getting the e-mail in outlook?
I have the e-mail address setup I want, but Outlook can't login, says my user id or password were not accepted by the server.

    Thanks,
    Michael

I used mail.domain.com for the incomeing and outgoing servers, used for the user name, and entered the password.

When i do the test settings, in outlook, it shows the mail going through my old host still, and I receive it in outlook fine. I send a test message with my personal e-mail, which is through my ISP, the mail does not show up in my outlook, but it does show up in the webmail for my vps, when I send a reply with my webmail for the vps, to my personal e-mail, it gets lost somewhere, it don't show up. i am confused.

The domain is working fine on the vps, so it must be migrated over.

Now, another domain that is migrated to my vps, won't even connect to the mail server, says the login info is bad, but the login works on the webmail, so I know it is right, and that is setup like any other e-mail pop3 I have done in outlook. And with this domain, i do not receive the test message in my webmail when I send it from my ISP mail, but it doesn't get returned.

    Confused...

    Michael
