hey guys and gals...im new to the site and new to affiliate marketing.

I have been skimming through posts and trying to learn but in all honesty I need someone to simply tell me what affiliate marketing is all about and how to get started and the steps that you veterans took when you were in my position?

Make a blog? website? signing up for affiliates? Pay per sale/click?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I recommend you to start from a web site, make your own web site, become an affiliate of affiliate programs and promote your site(SEO, link exchanges, directory submissions and etc).

Buy a book from Amazon. type in "affiliate marketing" in their search and go from there.

I'm also interested in this topic. Could I ask you why is a website better than a blog? What is the difference?

Bot a web site and a blog can be tailored toward a specific product. The important thing is the ad copy you use on the site. Provide a detailed product review, then funnel that down to a sales section. At the end of the day you are after the conversion. My best advice would be to diversify. That's what I always preach to my customers that are learning the affiliate game. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. It's easy to get discouraged if one product doesn't convert well for you. That's why I sell tens of thousands of products.

If you want to start your own real business and you are going to become a successful affiliate and earn a lot you will need to have your own real site. As for me if I want to buy something I will never buy a product from a blog. It's better to create your own site and launch a blog there if you want but only for the latest news and promotions. I think it's not a good idea to sell something through a blog.

It's my opinion and it's from my experience.

No problem, if you want to get a free website, free domain name and free offshore hosting I may recommend you an affiliate program if you want to start promoting online casinos.

I would suggest you start with a blog whilst you experiment and learn the ropes as you can do this for free. When you have more of a feel for it then progress to web sites and other blogs as you see fit.
Ive just made 167us$ in my second week with a blog - check my site for my info.

Just a word of caution though - I won't be surprised if Clickbooth denies commissions for your publisher referrals

Having both website & blog won't hurt. Sign up for affiliate(s), write some nice contents (many aff offer free articles), start promoting your website & blog.
