Before selecting any firm must go through their portfolio. You can go through our signature if you want to see our portfolio and experience in this field.

Go and find good SEO firm (with portfolio) and then give them a task. The best way if money is not a problem for you. Good luck

Jermon, in SEO don't think like that person whose charging more for it's services, are the better and can do what you want.

You need to select a proper seo firm which is totally targets the clients business without looking at their seo business.

And don't forget to review their portfolio even, and if needed you should confirm too.

    best of luck...:)

Why don't you try to optimize your site personally and just spend your money in some links that can really benefit you like banner advertisings or PPC campaigns?

you know what i would suggest? learn on what your target audience is doing online! Means... what is their buying process and what they are looking for online, SEO activities need a lot of investment and time to get results that are awesome afterwards... no white hat seo can guarantee good results within 6 months... then the question arises how to measure the work they are doing? there are indeed ways of doing that too ...

i would suggest get some basic knowledge of seo yourself, it is a ongoing process and not something which would require much deal of knowledge .. in compare to other fields of computers like web design or programming, then hire someone who can do teh work for you..

    hope that helped?

personally I would read through the hints and tips on DP forums over the next month. Learn about Link Building Strategies such as Do Follow blogging, no follow links in forums like this one, reciporcal linking and posting on article directories and save the money you'll spend on an SEO company.

The BEST thing is to study SEO and learn both advanced and basic. This wont only save you money but youre also doing yourself a favor. Personal touch always give quality and better results. Success is alot sweeter if you know that you made it possible without the help of others. Rank higher! Soar above the competition! More luck

Your site is going to need a lot of work done to it if you're going to have it rank well consistently across the major search engines over the long term. Right now your site isn't even in the top 1,000 results for the search term "credit repair". What search terms, other than "fix credit" and "improve credit score" are you looking to rank well for?

A few things I noticed off the top were a canonical URI issue, duplicate content, lack of a proper document structure (including but not limited to headings), the use of relative URIs to your pages, and some invalid HTML code that can actually cause search engine crawling and indexing issues (by and large, invalid HTML is not an SEO issue, but there are a few things that can cause issues, such as not using alt="" text for images, sticking page content and navigation into forms, and so on).

I'm positive your site has other issues as well that need to be looked at but those were just a few things that stuck out like sore thumbs to me (and as someone who's fought against collection agencies in the past and won - in federal court no less, I know what sore thumbs of this type look like).

    ...and...

Agreed. On the other hand jermon, you may want to consider requesting an audit of your site to be performed before engaging anyone in any long-term work. I happen to offer such comprehensive reports (usually around 25-30 pages long, with nothing but facts - no fluff or BS) on the side (and just got done spending an entire month offering them). If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll be more than happy to talk to you either via PM, e-mail or over the phone (I'm in Illinois, just west of Chicago).

Google's Help Center is a good place to start. http://google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35291&ctx=sibling

Classified sites are going to be about as low in quality as directories. He needs quality incoming links, not directory submissions. Did you even bother to take the time to research his site?

Agreed. Find out where the money is going. After all, you're going to be making an investment - you don't want that investment to be a new yacht or someone else's child's college education.

See above (two quotes up, actually).

Because one, I doubt he wants to do this himself (he has a business to run after all), and two, buying links to improve his rankings is a violation of Google's Terms of Service.

And it usually does if handled properly. After all, most SEO campaigns take between 6-9 months to take off, and that's just a minimum, not a guarantee. Complimenting that with PPC (if it converts well) can help offset that time while still bringing in quality targeted search traffic while the organic listings take the time they need to get off the ground and start ranking well.

A white hat SEO who's dealt first hand with the FDCPA and FCRA probably can in this case- he or she will already have the first-hand experience and knowledge of what search terms people are looking for having already 'been there, done that". (And if you're wondering, I've got a federal class action and an individual complaint under my belt.)

Given that his site is already online, I'd be focusing on finding an SEO who either works with Web development as well (like I do, though I'm not an ASP.NET developer) or find someone who can work well with his developer/development team. Remember, he's running a business - this isn't a hobby for him. He should be focusing on doing what he does best, and delegate the rest to those who are just as capable in their respective fields as he is in his.

Unfortunately, that's not going to do much given the massive quantities of threads and posts here on the forum - and that's even if he cuts to the chase and reads what sweetfunny, ssandecki and I post on a regular basis. Not only that, but it's also time and opportunity lost as well (not to mention money from new clients).

Again, that's not going to help him much. Learning the basics is easy, but there's a lot more to SEO than tweaking page titles, META description tags, and submitting to directories. Which is why he needs to hire someone who knows how to do what needs to be done, such as content and Web development, a competitive keywords analysis, keyword research, a competitive site analysis, and acquiring and developing strong quality incoming links that will stand the test of time. Granted, I'm not great when it comes to acquiring incoming links in most cases, but when it comes to content and informational sites, I can work wonders - ESPECIALLY given that I know someone who's an administrator on a MAJOR credit repair forum (I think jermon may have heard of him - if he wants, I can PM him the username and first/last name, though I don't know off-hand which forum he's active on; this is the same guy who helped me out when I filed that collections and credit card fraud class action against two collection agencies back in 2005).
