SO I've created my first site that I will be concentrating on with SEO. The site is built around Wordpress, which I hear is very good in terms of SEO...

I have a made a sitemap (and submitted it to Google using webmaster tools), made all the post and page headers <h1>, <h2> tags, fixed up my meta info, used a few SEO plugins for Wordpress and I'm going to start consintrating on backlinks.

    Here's the site URL:
    http://scrubsonline.org/
    Code (markup):
Idealy wanting to rank high for the keyword "watch scrubs" :)

Anyone got any pointers? Any tips or helpful info that I might want to know?

    Thanks

First of all, excellent choice of show. :D

Secondly, if you're wanting to rank for watch scrubs, I suggest you change your title tag, it's currently scrubs online.

Also change it in the body, your first words, and make it an h1 tag. Right now it's an h2.

watch scrubs has about 445 000 results in google, you should be able to rank well, give it time.

I would write some good articles on some article sites with and name your link "watch scrubs" this way google will associate "watch scrubs" with your site this will work for you. Also do this on forums. Get a twitter account call it "watch scrubs" and post your url there. You may think I am crazy but go ping your twitter at http://pingmytwitter.com twitter is a no follow but Yahoo will pick up your link.

Agreed with Mike. You should use your primary keyword in title. You can definitely get rid of 'category' in your URL :)

You might want to use an alt / title tag for logo. And also use these tags for 'watch' button (they will be related to a particular episode).

WARNING! I also changed my my url and I really had some problems. There is a internal link migrating plug-in you want to add if you already have a number of posts. Ad this plug in before you change how your url shows. After I changed how my url was displayed i had a number of broken links and a lot of sitemap errors with google.

The bottom line is this cost me big, i had a lot of posts on the front page for some good keywords. after i screwed it up changing the url it fell off the map and I havn't gotten it back yet.

I should have kept that in mind. There are plugins that can keep your existing perma links as it is.

    Hi

1)Change the title and design a keyword oriented title and description.
2)Have keyword research and include those keywords in your metatags as well as in your content.
3)Build quality back links(directory sites ,social sites etc..) and target your keywords.

    Hope this will help you.

Mike is right. You need to change your title tag. For the keywords "scrubs online" you are on the 2nd page of google here: http://www.google.com/search?q=scrubs+online&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&hs=NvU&start=10&sa=N

Also, create some quality article with your links to your site, with the anchor text being whatever keywords you are trying to target. There are a lot of so called SEO experts and Services out there, just be careful who you chose, if you even chose any to help.

    Hope this helps
