Hello guys this is my first post here, heard some good things so I figured I would sign up. I've been working with design for awhile now, not so much coding but I know XHTML and CSS fairly we'll. recently I've been interested in seo, so I set up two test sites to see if I would be able to rank of google for a few keywords. I was wondering if any of you guys could check them out, give me a critique and possibly some advice on next steps, or things I've done wrong from the jump? ANY advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm a general contractor so I geared these toward small business like companies that I know a little about. Www.pool-service-long-island.com Keyword pool service long island and pool maintenance Long Island Www.snow-removal-long-island.com Any advice would be awesome, thanks guys. Joe
@elshazly May I know what type of advices you are looking at ? I means you need advices for on or off page ???
@elshazly I think you're more confused on this and if i point some more points out i don't think that you are going to get that easily, i guess what better for you is analyze it your self try signing up in the webmeup and put your website your self and yo'll be able to analyze your site accordingly. It is available for free for 15days, So i don't think that there is a need of ... So, i would suggest try doing it yourself.
I've seen sites dominate a niche's search terms for a local area in just a few days- weeks time. Before picking any niche obviously it needs to be profitable, but low competition and a good amount of search volume every month (Depending on the niche). After you've done your research rankings will follow good link building...high pr relevant links & some lower pr/social bookmarks have worked well for my partner and I...as far as on page keyword in the h1 tag, a picture - title & alt tag with your keyword and then link out to a credible source such as Wikipedia for your keyword...all that is enough to get started. Hope that helps!
I am almost 99% sure that you can learn what you want in this forum... Without a specific question, you could not expect good answers... I would use the Search function next time
First you have to concentrate on On page, which means you need to put Meta Tags, suitable Url Structure, H1 tags. Then do Linkbuilding.
You can check this as for starter https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/a-few-good-tips-for-your-seo-questions.2705456/ As for your keywords, Just search medium competitive ones... Good Luck!
Thanks guys! I really didn't have a question.. Just wanted some advice and critique on my first seo try..
I would advice you to refrain in the future of having domain names with hyphens and numbers. Those are not user-friendly, hard to remember when heard, easy to mistype (i.e. "is that a 7 or seven") and frankly - registering domains just for keywords is not such a fruitful practice anymore. Apart from that, in terms of SEO, you are on the right path about targeting long-tail keywords, as you have more options there and easier to compete when on-page SEO is done right. And when we take into account that this is for a local business, you should be able to rise in the ranks pretty quickly
Thanks Rado! Thats the kind of response I was looking for! By long tail keywords you mean, "snow removal long island" as apposed to just "snow removal"?
Exactly what I mean. Long-tails will give you flexible options and especially as you are targeting local businesses (in Long Island). If there aren't many direct competitors on the same market, the long-tail keywords would greatly help with the search engine recognition, as its easy to rank for them. Of course, that doesn't mean to leave aside all other keywords, just make a nice mixture of them.
Do search for doubts and clear them on the go.. But make sure you clear a doubt from multiple sources. Because there is no big YES and big NOs in SEO. Many people will have many opinions and most of them works for many of them.. wowwww confusing ? Welcome to SEO !!!!
