I m new to SEO, going to optimize my very first site for search engine, don't know where to start...? Just give me the overview and initial steps of Onsite and offsite optimization. Thanks in Advance.
Hi, for on site optimization the title tag is the most important aspect. off site it is inbound links. a good tool to use for on site optimization would be ibp (internet buisness promoter) it will compare your competitors keyword density and repition vs your site so you can see wether you are overusing or under using your targeted keywords. ibp does cost money but you can download a trail version for free which will give you a good gauge.
By the looks of your signature and post count, you already have a good idea about off site optimization.
Only with some few points we can't tell you about SEO. It would be better for you if you read some SEO books and learn through forums
start with on page optimization and try to consider guidelines of Google . then do some off page stuff like Directories Bookmarking forum Press Release Article Ping Service Blogging Blog Commenting etc to generate some good amount of traffic
study following points in detail Keyword selection ( research and analysis ) Keyword mapping to pages after selection site architecture to make it seo friendly relevant onpage change as per selected keywords finally building back links study above points as deep as possible so you and make an execution plan for each above points. make sure you do not miss anything.
My best reply will be hire a SEO company as its your first site and no one want to be a loose here in this moment at least..... if you want a try just try of all seo stuff................bear in mind its risky.
For seo most important are backlinks, leave me a PM if you are interested to perform well in seo and search engines
I know little about this subject, but what I do know is that all the experts have become so by using a trial and error system. Keeping what works and forgetting what doesn't. Hiring an SEO expert for your 1st site will teach you alot, then from there you can do it yourself.
This was all great advice. I too am really new to SEO and trying to learn my ways around it. These forums are greatly helpful. Thanks all!
If your site is just starting off, definitely do on-page first, then afterward go get yourself quality backlinks.
On page first. But make sure you make use of Google Webmaster tools. Submit a site map, use analytics... Original Page Title and link. If you're selling a product, try to make the product title and page information original in any way you can. Content really is very important and don't trust anyone who says it isn't Google believes in rewarding hard work, so if you just copy/paste content you'll fail.
after this do some off page things to improve your search engine visibility do directory, bookmarking, forums, article and press release etc
And don't forget to let others do this for you too, add "share this" buttons to all your pages. It amazes me that plenty of people still don't do this. It takes very little time, and you never know how many people will find your highly original and interesting work worthy of bookmarking or sharing on twitter FB, Myspace, Blogger...
