New to RSS feeds....what can they do??

RSS is completely new to me, but I'm interested in using them in a new site I have recently launched. I wanted to know if any of you knew of any good information resources that cover the basics of using RSS feeds and what they can do.

For this site i want to use them to present up to date news content about finance ie. interest rate changes and any news to do with the finance markets. For one i don't know if this is possible and I have no idea how to go about it, so if any one has any pointers or knows of any good resources I would be very grateful.

Thanks for the info very helpful, its becoming a bit clearer now, I noticed one site that was charging monthly to provide news feeds is this the norm or can you get them for free??

there are many out there offering free feeds. But do you have an RSS reader?

RSS = Really Simple Syndication. As for a reader, I use google, it seems to work just fine
