I'm new to whole press release thing and I would be grateful if you can help me with some links and thoughts.

1. For what kind of website would you recommend PR ?
2. What are benefits of PR ?
3. How much money is involved if I want to promote fresh web 2.0 app.

I'm interested in press release and how to do it to get maximum exposure.

 

Beware of scams and over-priced services:

1. The easiest way would be to pay for ~3 or 4 'affordable' services, then...
2. Do repeat business with the best one.
3. Using 'One big agency' (expensive) wouldn't pay off unless you have a big budget...
4. ...might as well develop your own media contacts, than pay big bucks.

If you have a moderate budget I'd experiment with a few 'affordable' services'.
Maybe, someone here will recommend good ones.
Even then: "Beware of scams and over-priced services"

Some good services i think the best to get some more exposure is manual directory submission service and Article submission service.
