New to Photoshop, Please help me with my project.

    Ok, I just got photoshop today, here is my situation. I do not know much so please explain how to do this:

    I want to make a logo thats consists of these elements:
    -black background
    -text with light grey on top and dark grey on bottom and a swirly line through the middle
    -picture with a white glow behind it.

    Well for the black background I don't know exactly how you want to do it but you could use the paint bucket.. or double click on the layer and click on color overlay.

    Text - I would double click on the text layer and use the gradient option and put the colors desired in. Also for the swirly line.. I don't know

    Picture - On the picture layer double click on the layer and either click drop shadow or outer glow and pick the color u desire
