Just got started learning few things on how to earn something from the Internet. I just started making a blog and would like to know how long will it takes for a website or a blogsite become visible in SERPs? Will it take a month? a week? or just a few days? I hope someone would share something... Thanks in advance!
indexed or getting on page 1 on SERP? if you mean indexed, it's easy, just get some links to your site, to check it type site:yoursite.com on google if you mean getting on page 1 on SERP, it depends on your keyword target and domain name usually when domain name have the keyword it's easier to rank, but it looks spammy
Thanks... Yes. to be indexed. I tried typing site:mysite.com on google and I saw my site was indexed. However, I would like my site to be on page 1 of SERPs. I started using blogspot and would like to know how it works before making a real website. Does it make any difference?
Depending on your approach, and the keywords you are promoting, you can be on page 1 in a week or less. By exploiting a few web2.0 sites, you can (at least temporarily) be on page 1 within a few hours. I've manage it in as little as 34 minutes, but staying there was a bit more difficult. For my most recent keyword phrase, it took about 3 weeks to get 16 of the top 20 results on Google. (9 on page 1, 7 on page 2). This took a couple of articles a day on my own blog, a couple of articles a day on ezinearticles, plus a couple of posts a week on three of the web2.0 sites. It's stayed there consistently for a while now. Getting indexed (for your domain name) is only the first step. You need to "get the word out" through article marketing, web 2.0 and serious SEO on your own site. All can be very helpful in getting you page ranking.
Thanks for your reply... That really is fast. However, I still can't find my blogsite elsewhere even up to the 20th Google search page. I even tried typing the whole keyword phrase but any of my pages is nowhere to be found. I think that doing backlinks might help. Most of us are doing it right?
the best way for a blog is to provide useful content and get returned visitors I guess; you could also submit to article directories, video sites and social sites to get the initial traffic coming to your site
If your blog is on your own web site, (and using WordPress) add the SEO pack. It will make it easier to get the SEO tags in place. Your titles should contain the keyword phrase, along with <h1> tags to help local SEO. One way to see how effective the indexing is would be to search for your keyword phrase with quotes around it. For example, if your keyword phrase were "honest marketing techniques" you would probably get radically different search results by searching for the phrase without quotes and again with quotes around the phrase. Search engines look for common words, and if your phrase were make money online, the search results will contain the highest ranking sites with those words, but not necessarily all of those words, so you could see a site with "make money" in the first page that has absolutely no mention of online. Thus, you can get a little better idea of where you stand by putting quotes around the whole phrase when you search. Now, that can help you see what is happening, but most people don't know they can get specific with a search by using quotes, and using quotes makes the search literal. That is, "Honest Marketing Techniques" and "Marketing Techniques Honest" won't generate the same results at all, but searching for the two phrases without quotes will result in much the same (but not exactly) results.
