I have always built sites in plain html. I am trying Mambo for the first time and I am confused on a few things. The first is templates. How do I create them and how do they implement the content from Mambo? Second, I eventually want to sell links on the site and don't want them to be site wide links. How do I accomplish this? Third, can I use Mambo to handle content in subdomains through the same platform, or do I have to set it up in each subdomain? Where can I find an easy to follow tutorial for a beginner? Hubert
Templates are managed at Site>Template Manager>Site templates. Default installation comes with templates that you can refer to, for implementing content. Your question on links really depends on your design. One possibilty is putting the links in Modules. And with the Module Manager, you can select on which page the module appears in. And as for your last question, I doubt that can be done. You have to install another copy for your subdomain.
The more I read on this, the more confusing it is. I am in a pinch here and I am willing to pay someone to help me get this setup properly. I have a lot to do and a short time to do it in. PM me if you are willing to can help. I have my concepts in mind as far as template layout, etc. I am just lost on setting everything up.
You should check absalom.biz/tutorials/Mambo_Template_Tutorial.html , where everything is explained clean and simple, but my advice is to look trough code if already made mambo template while doing this.
I've got several sites using joomla, and the best advice I can give you is to get your hands dirty with a test site. Dig into it, and tear around. If you need any help, send me a pm and I'll see what I can do for you.
