New to making money online

Hi. Lately, ive heard about so many people making a living from the internet. I even know of a person who has made himself a multimillionaire from the internet, and he is only 20 years old. Now, im not looking at becoming rich from the internet (although it would be nice :p ), but id like to start adding to my income.

Ive read through quite a few articles all over the place, about things such as adsense, affiliate programs etc., but im not sure where to start. To make money, do i need to sell/advertise a product? Or can a decent amount be made from adsense?

Im not an expert or anything, but im not too bad with web design. I can use html, php etc, so i could quite easily make a website and script it all. What would i make a website on though? Should it just be a site that attracts a decent amount of traffic, on a topic that people are interested in, and soley make money from advertising?

    All help is greatly appreciated.

    Dan.

PS. I just stumbled across this forum. I really like it :) Seems full of very helpful and informative people :)

i m also new to this forum,

any way i tell you, what i did, one thing i want to remember you i m not expert.

you create a new website for you if you have little money or also you could start with free blogs. (www.blogger.com) many free blog providers are available this is an example

you have create a new account google adsense, go to www.google.com/adsense and continue registration process and get relax for maximum of two days.

after two days check your mail , there will be an activation mail form google adsense team.

get in to your account, and different types of ads will be available in the account in the form of HTML code, simply copy that and paste it in your blog or website where ever you need.
that's it. if you got any other way , let me know
    login to he

    Thanks for that ven.

I was originally thinking along the lines of something like that, but wasnt sure if it was effective. I guess i can base my starting point from adsense.

    Thanks again,
    Dan.

A blog and adsence isnt the best starting place. Dont even bother signing up to adsence unless you have a decent amount of visitors coming to your blog. Getting visitors is the hard part. You need to build up links to other blogs/sites, you can try banner exchange programs, or submitting articles linking to your site/blog to article directories.

If you have a few $$ you can try some trustworthy investment programs. Or if you don’t have any money, why not sign up for some paid online surveys?

Pick up a book and learn HTML/PHP if you want to start off the right way and with an advantage to everyone else. Even very simple programming languages can give you the ability to turn ideas into reality.

Start by offering something for free on your blog or site by setting up an
opt-in form and start creating a list. It takes some time to build but you will make the most money by having your own list to market to.

i agree with Arasp, first find something you enjoy so that you'll have fun in the proccess learning how to do business over the internet. Once you get familiar and profitable in ur interest, venture off into other profitable niches that you are less familiar with.

Also, i would advise to to have a opt in form to capture your reader's contact info to build ur list. After that you can market your line of products to them continuously!

Hope that helps! message me if you have any other questions.

Here's Sultan_Emerrs Links to getting your site Registered with the Search Engines...

If you hope to get a load of returning visitors, you have to keep updating it with new things that make people want to keep going, and it's gotta look good. The better looking, the more people want to be affiliated with it. Also, make friends, and share links. Join web rings, give the links to your friends who are interested, and an interactive element like a message board, or such, will (if handled correctly) keep people coming back.

    1. Link to other pages, and have them link to you.

    2. Use relevant META tags for keywords and description

    3. Announce your website in many online forums (if Allowed or in your Signature File). Many sites frown on Posting about Personal Sites.

    4. Register your url with google and as many other search engines as possible.

    5. Update your site often to have repeat visistors.

    6. Add your url in your email signature.

    7. Do a search on google, then at the bottom of the page is "Disatisfied with results? Help us improve" link. Just fill out the info. and the spiders will go to your site.

I have been making a decent living on the net since finishing graduate school. I have never held a "real job" in my field of study. I'm no internet millionaire but am very happy with what I make. Succeeding online takes a little bit of luck, a little bit of skills, and a lot of trial and error. If you're in it just for the money, your initial failures may set you back and cause you to give up. I happen to love what I do and would have to say that this is my dream job in every respect.

Stick around DP...sooner or later you'll learn. Good luck!

Make a website for long time income.
Or you can promote other people's products, such as join a company with great products, sell it online and offline.

Come to DP everyday helps too!

Thanks very much everyone for the input. Im a bit undecided on what kind of site i should make. I was thinking of making one that supplies free myspace layouts, images etc. However, i thought that maybe those kind of sites are a bit too common.

Guess ive got some more research to do :)

Thanks again everyone, and ill be sure to check back on these forums every day :D

    Danago,

If you're still trying to decide what kind of site you want to make in an attempt to make some extra cash, my advice is to make a site about something you're very passionate about. That'll make it easier to keep up with it, work at it every day. If it's something you don't care about (like MySpace layouts... who cares about those? :p) you'll sit down at your PC ready to put some work into it and just go 'meh I don't really feel like it today'.

The first site I ever made any money from was a site about an online game that I was in love with. I played it every day and loved it and that showed in the site I made. You can really tell when the owner of a site is into what they're doing as compared to one that was just thrown up to try to make a buck.

    Good luck!

Making money online isn't as easy as it used to be.
It is very hard to make money nowadays because there are so many similar websites competing for every niche you can think of.

Well. Im not really interested in myspace itself. Ive never used it, never will. However, i am interested in making layouts, graphics etc. So i guess i might try something like that as a starting point. Thanks for that link by the way EBiz

yea ive kind of gathered that from what ive been reading. I know its not going to be easy, but im willing to give it a shot. Ive got nothing to lose really, except for time that ill be investing into it, which i think will be worth it anyway, even if it is a failure.
