Hello All, From time to time I get emails offering link exchanges. My mind set has been to just hit delete because "they want something from me and they will come out with the best results". However, I see more and more of these emails and wonder if they are genuine. If another forum of the same subject offers a link exchange, what is the best way to do this? Just add a link on my site and they add one on theirs? Do you leave out the nofollow comment or is it just for click throughs? Where do you find the best place is to put the links? On the main page or on a seperate "sponsors or link exchange" type page? Any thoughts are welcome on this
Often this is true, but not always probably, you have probably hit some automated system that people subscribe to, or buy, and will continue to be inundated. I provide a "submit your site" and still the emails come. I figure these people don't actually visit my site [proof] and I delete every single one. That's usually how it works and exchanges via a reputable forum usually work out Leave it out, after all that's what they're after. If you decide to use the nofollow then you need to be sure you can provide traffic and you need to be upfront about the nofollow. Be aware that nofollow is a google invention and not used by all Search Engines. definately in a separate area, I use directory software (wsnlinks) to manage this on my property investment directory and it works well. Check this thread on Directory Scripts too. I have a few posts on directory management and link exchanges on my Simple SEO Blog, in particular: You may ask but you may not get Link Exchanges - the novice version
Thank you sarahk. That was an excellent post and an excellent post on your blog about it. The email looks very similar to those above, so I will leave it our for now and work on a links page and see what people come to offer. Thanks again!
