If you are running a blog, I'd definitely stay with wordpress. If you want to do a lot of other things, then consider joomla. But as far as "blog" related features, nothing touches WP.

Joomla bundled with Virtuemart is perfect for ecommerce. I prefer Wordpress if for simple blogging.

Hey Espanolpro how is Virtuemart these days. Haven't tried it in years. It was quite buggy back then.

Wordpress was basically designed for blogging purpose, Now it has evolved such that you can develop a full fledged website with it. Joomla on the other hand was designed to develop a small to large website. Now a days Joomla does support blogging. it has some nice extensions, with the help of these extensions even a joomla website can be converted into a blogging website.

So in my opinion, If you are running only blog and not a website with blog then you should prefer wordpress. If you do have some plans to run your website with some fancy store and side by side your website also have some blogging requirement then you must consider Joomla

Basically i am in the process of writing some tutorials for Joomla. Official Joomla Documentation is well defined but at the same time it sucks properly. My tutorials will be easy to understand and will be supported by the videos. And believe me all of them will be free. You can check my website after some time. My website is basically based on Joomla and it have all that features as i have discussed earlier except online store.

    Magento > Joomla + Virtuemart
    Drupal + Ubercart > Joomla + Virtuemart

I wouldn't recommend Joomla for a webshop due the lack of possibilities of SEO and performance tweaking.

I'd recommend joomla if you want to do anything more than a blog but are not a "coder".
Lots of extensions to do whatever you want.
