There are a lot of guides people will try to sell you. My suggestion is dont buy a guide or service. Test out the waters yourself first. This very forum site is a HUGE source of great (and free) information. My suggestion is take a look at this thread (I forget which board its on). Its 11+ pages. READ IT ALL! There is a ton of information on this forum, you just have to search for it. Look up NcMedia and some of his posts as they were jam packed with info for the beginner and the seasoned pro.
