New to blogging....

    Hey everyone, I'm very new to blogging and I just started my wordpress blog on my own hosting account. I'm using the original 2013 theme just to try and get the hang of things but am still running into some issues.

    Can someone explain to me what's the difference between pages, categories, and menus? For some reason the only way I can get tabs on the top page is through "pages" but I don't know how to reorganize them in the way I want or even have posts set up directly to them as all I can do with posts is categorize them.

    Can anyone please give a new comer some advice in this area?
