Just created a blog and confused on some things: 1) Does all blogs already have a RSS 2) what exactly is a RSS and what benefit are there to bloggers when used correctly to help them in marketing, seo etccc ( unsure the pros and cons of this rss thing ) 3) do i have to submit my blog to rss directories, if I do then how do I submit correctly to rss directories and what are the steps or tools to help me do this correctly

An RSS is a list of all the topic and the entire content of your blog so that your visitor can read it in a reader instead of reading in your blog. Its also a bit helpful in making money. You can add adsense ads to it. It does not have anything to do with SEO. 3. Submitting your RSS to RSS directories will surely increase your traffic and also your subscribers. Not entirely correct. RSS has also its part to play in SEO. Otherwise there would not have been RSS directories. And there are other ways to get benefit from RSS especially by using it as a benefit from content thieves who scrap your RSS.
Can this be automated or is a manual process only ? What tools do you recommend to automate submissions
IMO you should use feedburner. It is always important to track how many subscribers you have to Gage how effective your posts are.
