New to Affiliate Programs

    Hey guys, I'm really new to this. I'm not really sure how they all work, and which pays the best, blah blah blah.

    I'm under the impression that say I sign up as an amazon affiliate, and put this amazon ad thing on my site, and get paid for sales made through it or something. Is this how it works? Thanks for any help, I need a complete rundown on affiliate programs :)

    check out commission junction (http://cj.com); they've been working great for me so far, I've had no trouble getting payments and made some good money.

    CJ is great. there are also quite a few inhouse affiliate programs. Often times you can get a higher payout by going directly to the merchants inhouse program and asking for a higher payout. But yes you should post unique pages on your site about various merchants in CJ or the product they sell, while placing the affiliate banners and links strategically on your site or blog. Then get to mad posting!

    Hey Mark,

    Your are correct with how Amazon affiliate work. They have widgets that you can place on your site(s) and if a sale is generated from that widget you get the commission. Amazon also has AStores which allows you to setup little niche stores too...

    Then there are Affiliate programs that allow your to choose which products you want to try and promote. Depending on the program you can generate commission from sales, leads, clicks, etc...

    Plenty of information on DP, you just need to weed through some of the crap...
